Ductwork Repair & Sealing · Madison, IN & Surrounding Areas
Duct Repair, Sealing & Vent Work
Your equipment is only as good as the ducts it breathes through, and around here we routinely find systems losing a quarter of their output to leaks, crushed runs, and disconnected joints. We repair, seal, and correct ductwork so the comfort you paid for actually reaches the rooms.

Symptoms of duct problems hiding in your system
One room always hot or cold
A crushed, kinked, or disconnected run to that room — the register can't deliver what the duct never brings.
Whistling or rushing air at registers
High static pressure forcing air through restrictions — the blower is fighting the ductwork and losing.
Dust returns days after cleaning
Return-side leaks pulling attic or crawl-space air into the system and distributing it house-wide.
Bills high while equipment tests healthy
Conditioned air escaping into the crawl space or attic — you're comfortable-ish and paying to heat the outdoors.
Musty smells when the blower runs
Return leaks drawing from damp crawl spaces — an air-quality problem with a sheet-metal cause.
What we handle
- Duct leak sealing (mastic and metal-taped joints, not cloth duct tape)
- Crushed, kinked, or disconnected flex duct replacement
- Undersized return corrections that choke airflow
- Crawl space and attic duct repair and insulation
- Mobile home crossover and underbelly duct repair
- Vent and register relocation and balancing
How the visit works
Measure, don't guess
Static pressure readings and a visual chase of the duct runs tell us where the system is actually losing — supply leaks, return leaks, or restriction.
Fix the real faults
Joints sealed with mastic, disconnected runs remade with proper connections, crushed flex replaced and supported correctly, returns upsized where they're strangling the blower.
Verify the change
Static pressure and room-by-room airflow rechecked after the work — you get before-and-after numbers, not just a cleaner crawl space.
The honest economics of ductwork repair & sealing
Duct work prices by access and scope: sealing accessible joints with mastic is the affordable foundation; replacing crushed flex runs and remaking disconnected joints sits in the middle; return upsizing and major reroutes are the larger projects. The constant is that duct repair makes your existing equipment better — it's capacity you already bought, delivered instead of leaked.
The economics beat most equipment upgrades: a system losing 20-25% through duct leaks — common in the crawl spaces and attics around here — gets that capacity back for a fraction of what a bigger unit costs, and a bigger unit on leaky ducts would just leak faster anyway. We test, show you the numbers, and fix the actual constraint.
For manufactured homes, duct repair is frequently the whole answer: crossover and underbelly repairs routinely transform comfort in mobile homes whose equipment was never the problem. It's why we inspect the underbelly before quoting anyone new equipment.
Timing & season
Crawl spaces and attics are humane to work in during spring and fall, which is when duct projects schedule easiest — and when the fix is proven before peak season loads the system. If last summer had rooms the AC never reached, book the duct work before this summer repeats it.
From the technician's side
We measure total external static pressure before and after every duct job — it's the blood pressure of a forced-air system, and it turns 'feels better' into numbers on paper. Mastic and UL-181 metal tape on every sealed joint; the cloth stuff called duct tape has no business on ducts and we don't carry it.
The regional classic: decades of accumulated 'repairs' in cloth duct tape, dried and peeled, leaking at every joint someone once touched. The second: closing registers to 'push air' to other rooms — it raises static pressure, stresses the blower, and often increases duct leakage. Balancing is done at dampers with measurements, not by suffocating registers.
Ductwork Repair & Sealing — Common Questions
How do I know if my ducts are leaking?
Rooms that never match the thermostat, dust that returns fast, whistling registers, and bills that outrun your usage are the classic tells. A static pressure test and a crawl-through confirm it in one visit.
Is duct sealing worth the money?
In leaky systems, it's some of the best-returning money in HVAC — sealed ducts deliver more of the capacity you already own, so the same equipment heats and cools better for less. We'll tell you honestly if yours don't need it.
Do you work on mobile home ductwork?
Constantly — crossover ducts and underbelly trunk lines are the most-ignored ductwork in the region, and repairing them is a standing part of our manufactured-home work.
